“South Africa’s multi-award winning Hip hop mega star Emtee is on the roar like a wild lion in the jungle”. This best describe the massive attention his latest single “Abantu” has being and still receiving nationwide and across the continent. Now here’s my take. “Emtee needs no introduction nor re-introduction”. So this piece would be a partial review of a musical journey filled with intrigues, that appeases one’s desire for emulation.
The Ambitouz Entertainment released body of work is a stunner through the x-ray ear of even the die-hard critics. A quick listen to the Single “Abantu” will definitely outlay the overall coloration of the project DIY2. This single is a testament to the fact that Emtee who busted into the scene at an early age like a wildfire with the release of his multiple award winning, smash hit single “Roll Up”; is a big force to recon with in the South African and African hip hop music scene for a very very long time to come. Even fellow musos has agreed to the fact that Emtee is not just a rapper, nor a hip hop artist, but a complete musician. Since his debut album “Avery” Emtee is without a doubt, the most awarded Hip Hop artist off a debut album in South Africa.
A musician with the capability of swinging the pendulum when it comes to originality. A musician with heart and soul for the craft of producing relatable, good music. @emteethehustla really means business. With well over 25 million YouTube views for his own singles and in addition to more than 11 millions from featured songs, most of which he had lead roles, the fire keep burning none stop for this enigma.
Over and above the collaboration with Trey Songz he has collaborations with musical heavy weights like Wiz Kid, Patoranking, Tiwa Savage, AKA and Sjava and more. Let me also mention the fact that he has headlined concerts and festivals all across the African continent. Yeah! yeah!! yeah!!!
This article, to some will seem like a praise-singing piece fully paid for, for commercial whistle-blowing purpose. But, absolutely “Nah”! its not; but fact surrounding a man with great talent and character to back it up. Let me even remind you of few national anthem-like hits turn-over by Emtee so far:
1. “Rollup”
2. “We Up”
3. Ghetto Heo
4. Perl Thusi
5. Corner Store
6. Me and You
7. Thank You
8. Plug
9. Winning
10. Abantu (available for streaming on morgeez.com )
..just to name but a few. ” If ya’ll knu’ whatta mean”?
