Minister Launches – South Africa Hip hop Museum in Johannesburg

The Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Hon. Min. Nathi Mthethwa has launched, the South African Hip-hop Museum; a special cultural center built especially for the preservation of Hip Hop history and culture in South Africa.

The Minister who used the opportunity to encourage artists to be more focused on their craft to be creating original content that is worth admitted into the museum, also announced the injection of up to 9million Rand into the development of Hip hop culture culminating in the building of this one of a kind center now know as the South African Hip Hop Museum.

There’s no doubt that the South African music industry has kept the act of revolving on a consistent basis. From a dedicated annual Hip hop Awards to the critically acclaimed “Back to The City” Hip hop Festival and now the big new baby, “The South African Hip Hop Museum”.

It was a successful media launch with a barrage of media from all over the SADEC region including media from other parts of the world. By the way, it stands, now, South Africa stands to be recognized as the only country in Africa with a grandstanding museum dedicated to the preservation of the works and music of Hip Hop artists in the country.

There’s no doubt that with this kind of Government support and initiative, South African hip hop is now sky-bound. And this museum will serve as the main tourist destination for the discovery of more information about the genre of hip hop music in South Africa.
