Nasty C and former record label, Mabala Noise has lost the battle of ownnership of the trademark name”Nasty C” in a lawsuit brought against both parties by former management company Freeworld Music.

Freeworld music claims that they own the right to the name that is after they had being dropped by Mabala Noise from managing Nasty C at the time. Freeworld Music, in their lawsuit again’t Nasty C which they had successfuly granted favor by the Johannesburg High Court stated that both Nasty C and Mabal Noise breached their contract ith them which entitled them to 25% of all Nasty C’s deals and performances.

According to Sunday Times Report:

Mabala Noise was entitled to receive the remaining 25% as part of the agreement. Freeworld Music said Nasty C had decided to make bookings on his own, but the record label did not inform it about the artist’s decision.

Further investigation reveals that Mabala Noise failed to defend itself against the application and the court therefore granted a default judgment against it.

Now, what does all this means? It all remains to be seen. Will Nasty C eventually drop the name ‘Nasty C’? And try to change to a new name? No one can tell at the moment as neither Nasty C nor Mabala Noise have released any clarity on the issue from their own perspective.
