Roc Nation Splits Executive Responsibilities | Appoints Shari Bryant and Omar Grant as Co-Presidents
Roc Nation Record Label made a surprise announcement on the appointment of co presidents to take over executive duties at the company. The Co-Presidents are Shari Bryant and Omar Grant both highly respected music industry professionals held to high esteem as
“Shari and Omar love culture and all it encompasses,” said Tyran Smith, president of A&R and a Roc Nation founder, in a press release. “Both are consummate professionals who understand and respect artists and their process. It’s an honor to work alongside and see them at the helm, poised to usher in the next Roc Nation generation.”
Bryant, began her career as an intern Roc-A-Fella Records before moving on to Def Jam, as well as Atlantic Record and Warner Bros. Before her current appointment as co-president at Roc Nation she had being a general manager at Alamo Records.
“There is no better way to celebrate my 20th anniversary in the music business than to return home,” Bryant said. “The values and lessons that the Roc Nation founders instilled in me provided me the tools to become the best executive I could possibly be. I am honored to make even more history with my family.”
While Omar Grant on the other hand has being at Roc Nation for nearly a decade now where he became head of A&R. In his many years at Roc Nation, Grant has over seen the career of fabtastic superstar artists like Rihanna, Big Sean, Shakira and Belly, and including recent additions to the Roc Nation roaster such as DJ Mustard and Rainy.
Grant who started his music administration career as an intern at Columbia Records where he served as road manager for Destiny’s Child, climbing the lather to senior A&R roles at EMI Music Publishing and Epic Records.
“After nine incredible years here, it’s an unbelievable honor to step into this new role,” said Grant. “Inspiration comes from the top down at Roc Nation, and the founders set a precedent for a culture of progress in terms of both business and creativity. That’s a legacy I’m humbled to uphold and extend as co-president.” a clearly delighted Grant reiterated.
