SA | #FreeStylefriday | Was this a National Rap Audition? | L-Tido Shines

riky rick and stogie t battles on #freestylefriday

The #Freestyle Friday by Stogie T was “a somewhat phenomenon”. Rappers from all works of life within the length and breath of South Africa hopped in. Rappers from SA big names like Riky Rick lead the pack and showed some example. Then “The Boy”, L-Tido showed up and smack ’em all.

If Rap is a Game and hip hop should be way of life? then @L_tido should be the captain. The Rapper who’s being laying low for some years now, teased with what seemed like an upcoming project. Quite frankly, of all ’em, @L_Tido made it clear that there are certain ways to freestyle. Not just jumping words, but composing works to make beautiful lyrical rhymes.

The Audition Twist to the #FreeStyle Friday

The motive for the #freestylefriday was kind of sketchy as its purpose was unclear and still remains unclear. Although it looks a showpiece for underground rappers to showcase their talent and be seen, the involvement of some of the mainstream rappers, almost defeated that purpose. Or, were they trying to teach the unknown rappers some tricks? Or were they, themselves dried out that they needed some platform to resurrect dying rap libidos.

The lock-down has revealed many things among many is the fact that the internet is flooded with pieces of contents as everybody has become contents producers. So, were these so-called mainstream rappers joining the band wagon, battling it all out with the so-called underground for their own selfish gains? Time will tell.

Let’s have your thought …
